Self-esteem
What it is:
Living among others inevitably means being weathered a little by their imperfect edges. A slow sanding of the self that happens simply because we are human together. Working on our self-esteem is a bit like applying a protective film over our sense of self.
Self-esteem is how you see and value yourself. Low self-worth often sounds like harsh self-criticism, shame, people-pleasing, or never feeling "good enough", as if you need to earn your right to exist.
How to know if you need support:
- You constantly worry if you have done or said the wrong thing.
- You automatically compare yourself and your actions to others.
- You struggle to say no and avoid conflict at all costs.
- You find it difficult to set boundaries.
- You feel defined by past mistakes.
How you'll know it's getting better:
- You can notice your self-talk and it becomes kinder.
- You can say "no" while noticing the guilt and placing it where it belongs.
- You have increased trust in yourself and your decisions.
- You can make space for your own worth along with imperfections.
