Lemon Counselling - For when life gives you lemons

Counselling Online

Online counselling offers the same therapeutic support as in-person sessions, delivered securely via video. Here’s what to expect and what you’ll need for a safe and effective session.

What to expect

Your online session will feel much like a face-to-face appointment. We’ll meet at an agreed time on Zoom (which I use for security and reliability). You’ll see and hear me clearly, and we’ll work through whatever you’ve brought in the same way we would in the room. Many people find that after the first few minutes, it simply feels like a normal counselling session.

Before your session

  • Quiet, private space: Choose a room where you won’t be interrupted and where others can’t overhear you.
  • Stable internet: A reliable connection helps the call stay clear and uninterrupted. If possible, use a wired connection or sit close to your router.
  • Device: A laptop, tablet, or phone with a camera and microphone. Laptops or tablets often work best so you can see the screen clearly.
  • Zoom: You’ll receive a secure meeting link before the session. You can join via the link in your browser or by downloading the free Zoom app. No account is required to join as a participant.

Security and privacy

I use Zoom because it meets the standards needed for confidential therapy. Sessions are not recorded unless we explicitly agree otherwise. To protect your privacy, use a private network (avoid public Wi‑Fi), and make sure no one else can see your screen or hear the conversation.

Tips for a good session

  • Log in a few minutes early to check your camera, microphone, and connection.
  • Have a glass of water nearby and a quiet place to sit where you feel comfortable.
  • If something feels off (sound, picture, or connection), say so — we can troubleshoot or reschedule if needed.

If you have any questions about online sessions or how to set things up, please ask when you get in touch. I’m happy to help make sure your first online session runs smoothly.
